Unified Field

Unified Field

In the world, we often go through our days and our lives with our awareness focussed primarily

on our own separateness. Our minds are occupied by our individual responsibilities and ambitions; and our connection to our bodies is tenuous or inconsistent.

We rarely enjoy the feeling of being together with others; in a unified field within the flow of life.

In this workshop, our focus will be on exploring and learning how to feel and recognize the unified field of our own bodies, as we move and play within the unified filed of a group.

Through conscious movement, we’ll discover new connections between the different parts of our bodies; and learn how to move as one dancing body.

Next, we’ll learn how to expand our awareness out to the group as a whole, without losing touch with ourselves. We’ll bridge the two using our breath and expanded proprioception, allowing our attention to flow seamlessly from ourselves, to the group, and back, in a loop.

When we loop in this way, while dancing together, we create a shared field of individual expression that naturally and easily becomes a playground for connection and creative collaboration. The feeling of the unified field is palpable, inspiring and deeply nourishing.

Erik Iversen is a founding member of the 5Rhythms worldwide community. He was in the his first training with Gabrielle Roth in 1981 and became one of her first workshop producers out of Montreal in the 1980’s. Over the next 40 years, he practised and taught the 5Rhythms as well as maintaining a one-one-one bodywork practice; over time he integrated the wisdom he gained from hands-on work with the insight from guiding thousands of dancers on the dancefloor. In 2016, he graduated from the 2-year Leadership and Transformation training at the Hendricks institute, and is now a certified coach. In 2017, Erik co-founded Kite Parade Co (www.kiteparade.co) and in 2020, he designed the Somatomy™ series, a 3-part training that guides participants through an in-depth, experiential understanding of their anatomy and offers powerful tools for creating deep presence and flow through movement and conscious embodiment.

SOMATOMY™ Module 2

Made up of 5 two-hour sessions

Saturday, December. 7th 2024, 11am-1pm EST.

Sunday December 8th 2024, 11am-1pm EST

Wednesday December 11th 2024, 12pm-2pm EST

Saturday December 14th 2024, 11am-1pm EST

Sunday December 15th, 2024, 11am-1pm EST

Module 2 illuminates five more sessions integrated with the 5Rhythms exploring intimacy, ease, and flow. The obstacles to these being discomforts, stress, and distraction. Fear rests at the root of these obstacles. This next layer of discovering/uncovering the art of presence empowers each of us to go deeper towards an “archeological dig into frozen history” as Reich said.

On my personal continuing journey of awakening, by melting the armor of my generational character shapes I started to feel the distance I placed between myself and the people I love. With new awareness and acceptance of my sensitivity and vulnerability, I began to notice a layer of protection. This manifested as an increase in rigidity {or tissue density the opposite of fluidity} and as a limited range of motion that rippled out especially in my hips and my shoulder girdle. Also, injuries and scar tissue created compensations and blocked feelings.

These insulated parts of my body protected me from giving and receiving love fully. On another level, this deep core fear of love and intimacy had been cultivated from family conditioning from who knows how far back.

The integration of Somatomy evolves through bringing your attention to sensing your physiology, connecting your mind and body, and opening the space between stimulus and response. Body intelligence emerges when your mind’s awareness is connected with your body’s movements and your sensory experience unite with your full presence as you interact with your world.

Week 1 Saturday, December 7th : Developmental Movement: Patterns and Progressions from birth to 2 years old - Fish, snake, reptile, monkey, bear. Re-wiring our nervous system and being curious about our personal blind spots or our resistance to this playful form.

Week 2. Sunday December 8th : Developmental Movement: contacting the ground and feeling gravity from different levels and positions. The second of two sessions focuses on experiencing the primary human movement patterns that relate directly to the development of the brain. Experiencing breathing patterns from many different body positions.

Week 3. Wednesday December 11th :Lining Up:  Dancing with function and structure. What part of the different joints of each persons body moves easily or not at all. Which part of structure is leading my dance, my walk.Relationship of core to sleeve and the planes of movement. Brain Gym, New Choice.

Week 4. Sunday December 14th : WalktoDance: walking from the mid-line, the center. Many shapes of the walk from the center and the psoas, ankles, and hips shaping our walk. Agility, responsiveness, and decisive moves.

Week 5. Sunday December 15th: Meeting Places:  energetic and fascial meeting places and power centers. Sacral fulcrum, occiput, solar plexus, dorsal hinge, plantar fascia, hip trochanter. Panoramic and open vision.

In all Modules the common thread is PLAY: Including Expression, Dance, 5Rhythms, Touch, Self Healing .

This is an ongoing closed group.

All classes are recorded and the recordings are available within 3 hours of completion of each session.

Somatomy Modules 1, 2, or 3 can be attended in any order.

$265$ CAD for all five classes.

Playful Presence

Playful Presence

A 5Rhythms Waves Movement Meditation

“The heart of healing lies in the ability to listen, to perceive and to turn up the volume to our full body intelligence”

Every interaction in our lives – be it within us, between ourselves and others, or ourselves and our environment – generates the opportunity to presence ourselves in the moment.

Nurturing a pathway to sensualizing our feet and their relationships to our other bodyparts creates the context for presence. Befriending our breathing and gravity enlivens our experience of moving. Noticing this sixth sense facilitates balance and focuses our ability to be present.

“My commitment to the participants of the workshops I lead promises to catalyze and inspire them to integrate the playful and pleasurable sense of their body intelligence on the dance floor and in daily life.”

In life, and in dance, there is the opportunity to loosen effort and magnify ease. We can identify movement patterns then ignite new ones. This creative expansion of new ways of moving defines play. Play is fertilizer for brain plasticity, Are you willing to express with full body intelligence within the group resonance of a 5Rhythms authentic and open movement space? Join us in illuminating and welcoming a fresh and deep relationship to yourself, to your bones, to your flesh and to your fascia.

The Medecine of Attention

An investigation into re-wiring our body intelligence.

The 5Rhythms movement meditation practice gives us permission to travel safely outside our daily experience of living and moving. In this experimental and innovative environment {laboratory} using our bodies to express creates the opportunity to slow down and rhythmically notice where we unconsciously or consciously put our attention. This workshop/playshop illuminates and shines light on presence, our sense of occupying a space in the moment.

What parts of our bodies do we ignore? What is efficient alignment? We can focus on ground, balance, imbalance, fear, breath, other people, love, space, energy. Through movement we can choose to cultivate excitement and play and to discover new choices to focus our awareness/attention.
By developing attention to appreciation of ourself and of others we feed connection instead of isolation , creativity instead of inertia. Come and play and awaken new pathways of relationship to self and others.

Somatomy™Module 2

SOMATOMY™ Module 2

Made up of 5 two-hour sessions

Tuesday October 15th, 2024

Thursday October 17th

Tuesday, October 22nd,

Thursday October 24th

Tuesday October 29th

Week 1 Tuesday October 15th : Developmental Movement: Patterns and Progressions from birth to 2 years old - Fish, snake, reptile, monkey, bear. Re-wiring our nervous system and being curious about our personal blind spots or our resistance to this playful form.

Week 2. Thursday October 17th: Developmental Movement: contacting the ground and feeling gravity from different levels and positions. The second of two sessions focusing on experiencing the primary human movement patterns that relate directly to the development of the brain. Experiencing breathing patterns from many different body positions.

Week 3. Tuesday October 22nd :Lining Up:  Dancing with function and structure. What part of the different joints of each persons body moves easily or not at all. Which part of structure is leading my dance, my walk.Relationship of core to sleeve and the planes of movement. Brain Gym, New Choice.

Week 4. Thursday October 24th : WalktoDance: walking from the mid-line, the center. Many shapes of the walk from the center and the psoas, ankles, and hips shaping our walk. Agility, responsiveness, and decisive moves.

Week 5. Tuesday October 29th: Meeting Places:  energetic and fascial meeting places and power centers.

$250. CAD for all five classes.

SOMATOMY™ Module 2

Made up of 5 two-hour sessions

Tuesday October 15th, 2024

Thursday October 17th

Tuesday, October 22nd,

Thursday October 24th

Tuesday October 29th

Movement Playground-Return to Innocence

Movement Playground-Return to Innocence

Emma Leech and Erik Iversen

Curiosity will guide us into our movement enquiry, following and listening to our unfolding physical language in the dance. Tapping into that child like innocence with playful abandon, remembering what it was like to be excited by our world, new, fresh, invigorated, seeing with unfiltered eyes, feeling, being, exploring movement with each other, a playground of possibility.

Innocence is no-mind, like the mind of a child.

This increase in your physical literacy has a direct and positive impact on your creative abilities too. By expanding your physical proprioception, you expand your creative perception because the sensory and creative parts of your brain work together.
If you’re a lover of movement, this playshop will stretch your physical imagination and invite you into new realms of expression.

Emma Leech: I have been dancing 5 Rhythms since 1991, I trained to teach it after some resistance to be a teacher for 10 years...finally seduced by the Lady of the dance herself Gabrielle Roth and completed the training in 2001. I fell deeper into the mystery of the dance and its healing Art form and have now been teaching 5 rhythms Waves and Heartbeat level in ...prisons, addiction programs and with children at risk, as well as my workshops globally and weekly classes. I continue to follow the flow of invitations and my intuition . Film has given me another sense to explore.

Thursday September 5th

Tuesday September 10th

A Foundational Experience in the field of 5Rhythms.

To remain present and connected to your feeling self, to bridge awareness of others and to embody the space you occupy is a path of presence. By losing connection to self, your body lacks youthful energy and your mind is racing, full of distracting fear-based thoughts. This state of dis-connect of body awareness can result in the contracting of or shifting into unconscious body shapes, in diminished breath capacity, in discomfort and in blocked life force flow which magnifies panic-based, fearful decision making and inertia.
In this workshop, I promise to share effective ways of sourcing the authority living within your body. I’ll empower you to enliven and to unlock your body-mind connection; I’ll invite you to free yourself of your mind’s games to distract your attention and dance you into a state of presence. Transforming these habitual patterns enlivens your spark of creativity and refreshes the passion of enriching your zone of genius. Awakening and sensualizing yourself in your full body awareness is a practice of self-love and playful presence that liberates you from generational and cultural patterns. {the tyranny of the past]

Balance and Gravity

ENGLISH:

BALANCE AND GRAVITY

5RHYTHMS WORKSHOP WITH ERIK IVERSEN (CANADA)

We are grounded by our connection to the earth. Our feet magnify this relationship and nourish sensation. Opening our feet to receive the weight of the body creates balance, understanding, and a feeling of self support. Movement flows from the feet up. Root to rise.

This is a foundational 5Rhythms movement adventure rooted in gravity and in our relationship to our functional, energetic and creative balance. Standing in relationship to the earth our feet provide us with the only source of contact with the ground. Sensing this ground force reaction leads us to the discovery of our movement patterns from the ground up. At this gathering we'll look into the relationship between proprioception and balance while investigating our full body's relationship to the intelligence of our feet. We'll cultivate and revive this life force flow by also balancing conscious breathing and movement. With these two elemental forces, feet and breath in balance, we'll establish a playful presence for a dynamic dancing event.

For whom is this workshop?

This workshop is addressed to all individuals interested in healthy movement, practitioners of 5Rhythms, Movement Medicine, Open Floor, Movement Animal Flow, Yoga, and others.

But at the same time no previous experience is required in order to participate in this workshop!

This workshop counts towards 5R Teacher Training prerequisites, Waves level.

•THE WORKSHOP:
In the world, we often go through our days and our lives with our awareness focussed primarily on our own separateness. Our minds are occupied by our individual responsibilities and ambitions, and our connection to our bodies is tenuous or inconsistent. We rarely enjoy the feeling of being together with others, in the unified field within the flow of life.
In this workshop our focus will be on exploring and learning how to feel and recognise the unified field of our own bodies, as we move and play within the unified field of a group. Through conscious movement we'll discover new connections between the different parts of our bodies, and learn how to move as one dancing body.
Next we'll learn how to expand our awareness out to the group as a whole, without losing touch with ourselves. We'll bridge the two using our breath and expanded proprioception, allowing our attention to flow seamlessly from ourselves, to the group, and back, in a loop.
When we loop in this way, while dancing together, we create a shared field of individual expression that naturally and easily becomes a playground for connection and creative collaboration. The feeling of the unified field is palpable, inspiring and deeply nourishing.

•THE TEACHER:
Erik Iversen is a founding member of the 5Rhythms worldwide community. He was in his first training with Gabrielle Roth in 1981 and became one of her first workshop producers out of Montreal in the 1980's. Over the next 40 years he taught the 5Rhythms as well as maintaining a one-on-one bodywork practice; over time he integrated the wisdom he gained from hands on bodywork with the insight from guiding thousands of dancers on the dance floor.

In this third module of Somatomy we shall weave the functional and the anatomical to the spirit of the playful, creative and emotional shaping of the individual. We shall explore with curiosity the new choices and many shapes we create in response to our experiences. We will dance to the playful sounds of breath and jibberish. We shall investigate and share our inherited stories and our created narratives about living in our bodies. And finally we shall re-wire our entire being through play. The first two modules are present to be the foundation for this third module of Somatomy. I would like to build on the foundation that I am/you are practising  Then we go deeper. Ida Rolf says the “the issues are in the tissues.’ Are you willing to bring vulnerability to these gatherings?

PORTAILS 5Rhythms©

5Rhythms© GATEWAYS

“Every part of you is sacred and any part may be a gateway to your most empowered truth, the dance only you can do here and now, if you are willing to listen.”
- Gabrielle Roth

We are biped mammals who favour our intellect and often forget how to access our body’s immense intelligence. This is a by-product of having our bodies, minds and hearts compartmentalized over the last few thousand years.

Yet as we face more and more polarized realities, the call to remember our essential integrity is being felt - with good reason.
Having a sense of our center helps us navigate the tumultuous times we’re in.
Having an understanding of how energy moves within us helps us engage our creative powers.
And having the courage to step up to these explorations brings us the deep connections we crave.

Our bodies are sacred vessels of spirit, with many GATEWAYS as potent teachers of our presence, power and belonging.

The 5Rhythms© practice shapes a path that lets your body and heart welcome you home.
It’s a potent tool for accessing and experiencing the many ways energy moves, gets stuck, explodes, implodes, animates us every day.

In this workshop we’ll explore how each one of the 5Rhythms© opens GATEWAYS in us, how to access the energy and creativity inherent in our body, and how each segment of our structure and each body part can ignite our dance.

Join us to discover focus and connection on the dance floor and in your daily life. Dancing through the gateways, arriving in the present moment.

See you on the dance floor!

My commitment to the participants of the workshops I lead promises to catalyze and inspire them to integrate the playful and pleasurable sense of  their body intelligence on the dance floor and in daily life.

My commitment to the participants of the workshops I lead promises to catalyze and inspire them to integrate the playful and pleasurable sense of  their body intelligence on the dance floor and in daily life.

Breaking the Armor

Breaking the Armor

How can we learn to uncover the deep truth of who we are and feel our essence? This process takes practice and awareness. Learning to let go of tension and unconscious holding patterns allows us to feel more deeply into our core. Our essence lies in this deep still place inside us, a place untouched by trauma. Our essence and our vulnerability is often buried under a protective shell and beneath our character armour.

We can learn how we shape ourselves and then practice letting go. We can allow sensations to move and flow and uncover our essence. Using the 5Rhythms in a safe playful environment to experience and shake off armor and old stories ,let’s dance and playfully transform contraction to expansion. Experience the deep sense of at-home-ness that comes when you are aligning your attention with your body through movement.

Somatomy™Module 2

SOMATOMY™ Module 2

Made up of 5 two-hour sessions starting Thursday, Jan 4th 2024 and continuing Tuesday , Jan. 9th at 1:00-3:00 EST and Thursday, jan. 11th, Tuesday, Jan 16th until the last session on Thursday, Jan 18th at the same time,

Week 1. Thursday Jan 4th: Developmental Movement: Patterns and Progressions from birth to 2 years old - Fish, snake, reptile, monkey, bear. Re-wiring our nervous system and being curious about our personal blind spots or our resistance to this playful form.

Week 2. Tuesday Jan 9th: Developmental Movement: contacting the ground and feeling gravity from different levels and positions. The second of two sessions focusing on experiencing the primary human movement patterns that relate directly to the development of the brain. Experiencing breathing patterns from many different body positions.

Week 3. Thursday Jan 11th :Lining Up:  Dancing with function and structure. What part of the different joints of each persons body moves easily or not at all. Which part of structure is leading my dance, my walk.Relationship of core to sleeve and the planes of movement. Brain Gym, New Choice.

Week 4. Tuesday Jan 16th : WalktoDance: walking from the mid-line, the center. Many shapes of the walk from the center and the psoas, ankles, and hips shaping our walk. Agility, responsiveness, and decisive moves.

Week 5. Thursday Jan 18th: Meeting Places:  energetic and fascial meeting places and power centers. Sacral fulcrum, occiput, solar plexus, dorsal hinge, plantar fascia, hip trochanter. Panoramic and open vision.

In all Modules the common thread is PLAY: Including Expression, Dance, 5Rhythms, Touch, Self Healing .
